I don't know jack shit about creating low poly models or video game assets. So in an attempt to actually learn the process, I made this Celtic Cross. The high poly model was built in Max using basic poly modeling techniques and then sculpted in ZBrush. I then exported the high res back to Max and used the trial version of Polygon Cruncher to get a lower poly version.
I used UVLayout to do the mapping and Xnormal to bake out the Normal Map. Textures were done in Photoshop CS4. I actually tried to render this inside the Unreal Editor but couldn't get any shadows to show up, (apparently a problem with my ATI card) so these renders were done in 3ds Max using Vray.
