Stressed out? Worried you'll have a stroke before meeting your next deadline? Well save yourself time and a heart attack by purchasing assets from the biggest 3D marketplace on the web. |
Another great 3D asset site. They recently passed the 800,000 asset mark. So needless to say, they probably have what you're looking for. They're also fairer to their artists then some other sites... That's right Turbosquid, I'm talking about you. |
Sure you could search google, but why do that when you can just go here? It's the best place to find high quality textures on the net. Sign up for a free account and download up to 15mb of textures a day. |
The nice peeps over at 3DTotal recently launched this free texture and reference library and it's loaded. According to the site, they have over 13,000 high res royalty free images available for download! |
The best place to find human anatomy reference. (A little too much penis for me) but they also have animals, clothing, armor and weapons. Worth the money for sure if you're a character modeler. Also check out their sister sites for other good stuff. |
If you're super serious about learning human anatomy, you might want to check out this site. They sell all kinds of anatomy related stuff, from creepy ultra realistic desktop statues, to dvd's, wall charts and templates... and let's face it, nothing impresses the ladies like a statue of a naked man on your desk... complete with accurate dong! |
That's right! it's more then just beat off material. Those pictures of hot naked chicks you usually wank to, also make for excellent character reference. Plus you can use the "I was just studying female Anatomy" excuse, the next time you get caught rubbing one out... Bonus! |
That's right... I said Flickr. Besides having a ton of useless images of random douchebaggery. This site is also a excellent place to hunt down reference material. I actually go here first before trying Google images or that Bing shit. |
If you're a Vray user, then you'll want to check this site out. Tons of free vray materials and shaders for download. |

Stuck in a rut and losing the will to live? We'll fear not my good man, just head over to this forum and get inspired. |
Ballistic Publishing along with 3DSK offer these dvd's for both male and female character reference. The images are shot at 16 megapixel resolution making them ideal for high res texture source as well. |
The place to go if you're looking for blueprint images. This site has a fucking shit load of free prints for pretty much everything. Cars, Planes, Tanks, People, Electronics and more... |
A great place to find reference images of you guessed it, guns. The images aren't super high res, but they do have a decent selection and the images are more then good enough to use for reference. |
You've heard of it and maybe even caught a glimpse of it through you're cell/office window. But this is a place few of 3d artist ever see. So if you're brave enough grab your camera, head outside to start snapping some shots of your own. Warning: lifting the shirts of random women in an attempt to gather skin textures is ill advised and will result in you receiving a vicious face punch and or beat down. |
This pay site started by car modeling and rendering master Thomas Surrland offers a huge selection of high resolution HDR images and matching back plates for a wide variety of locations. |
Mainly a place to buy HDRI's, however they do have a few free sample images available for download. I use them all the time and they work great. |
This dude's got some pretty sweet free HDR's in mirror ball format. I use them regularly. |
Egg head and all around mad scientist Paul Debevec has lot's of crazy shit on his website. Sure, you don't understand it and either can I, but check out his light probe download gallery. You'll find HDR and LDR images with interactive previews and a metric ton of info. |
